Owner Frequently Asked Questions

Are you licensed?

Yes. In Missouri, property management requires a real estate license. In Kansas, it does not, but at Ad Astra Realty, we hold ourselves to the same professional and fiduciary standards in both states.

Can I reach you after hours?

Yes. Especially in an emergency. While our business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., our team often works earlier and later to handle urgent issues when they arise.

Can you deposit funds directly into my account?

Yes. We offer ACH direct deposit to your designated account.

Do you sell real estate too?

Yes. Our licensed agents, Chris, Jimmy, Ashtyn, Luke, Pam, Liyah, and Tasha, can help you buy or sell both investment properties and personal homes. And yes, we always appreciate your referrals.

How and when do I get my payments?

Owner payments are sent on the 10th of each month. If the 10th falls on a weekend or holiday, we fund the next business day. You can choose ACH direct deposit or receive a mailed check, whichever you prefer.

How is rent collected?

Tenants can pay rent online, mail a check or money order, or drop off non-cash payments at our office during business hours, or use our after-hours drop box for convenience.

How long are your leases?

Most leases are for one year, though Kansas and Missouri laws differ. We’ll discuss your specific situation as needed.

How much is the security deposit?

Typically, the deposit equals one month’s rent, but requirements can vary by state and tenant qualifications. We’ll review each case individually.

How soon can you start managing my property?

In most cases, we can begin within 1 to 3 business days.

What types of properties do you manage?

We primarily manage single-family homes, along with a number of duplexes, fourplexes, and townhomes. We do not manage large apartment complexes.

What reports do I receive, and how often?

You’ll have full access to our online owner portal with a wide range of financial and property reports. If you ever need something specific that’s not listed, we’ll get it to you.

Who holds the tenant’s security deposit?

We hold all tenant security deposits in separate, non–interest-bearing trust accounts.
